Job description

Are you a Data Engineer with an interest in building robust data architectures and pipelines? Do you want to work in a fast-growing B2B regulatory and market intelligence company based in Barcelona, Spain? We are looking for a driven, intellectually curious Data Engineer to join our team of six to build and optimize the data infrastructure powering our research on novel nicotine products. You will design, develop, and maintain the pipelines that transform primary data (in-house surveys, stakeholder interviews) and secondary data (statistical databases, web scrapes) into usable interfaces for our analysts and clients. Your work will be the backbone of our online platform, accessed by a broad range of business and government clients. You will become the technical expert for our data landscape, with plenty of opportunities for growth and self-development.

The role

  • Pipeline Development – building and maintaining automated ETL/ELT processes to transform unstructured data into clean, actionable datasets

  • Data Architecture – deep-diving into our infrastructure to optimize data flow and storage for ad-hoc client requests

  • Data Modelling – designing data structures that accurately reflect market shifts and regulatory changes

  • Infrastructure Management – ensuring data quality and availability for our client-facing visualization tools

  • Technical Documentation – maintaining clear records of data schemas and workflows for our clients and team

Job requirements

  • Minimum undergraduate degree in a highly quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or similar)

  • Strong data engineering and infrastructure design skills

  • Ability to undertake projects independently

  • Fluency in English – our working language and technical documentation language is English

  • Expertise in SQL and Python is mandatory, and proficiency in R and visualization tools like Tableau and/or Power BI is highly valued

  • Have the legal right to work in Spain without sponsorship
